Biological Sciences Celebrates Its 25th Anniversary
The Department of Biological Sciences has a number of events coming up that to celebrate the Department's 25th Anniversary! See below for a list of events:
February Events:
- 2/25: Honoring Ridgeway - The Department of Biological Sciences will partner with iSTEM and Alpha Phi Alpha to share life and memories of 91成人视频 Biology’s first black, tenured professor Dr. Bill T. Ridgeway. This event will be held in Buzzard Hall Auditorium 6:30 to 8 p.m.
- 2/25: Impact Life - Alpha Epsilon Delta (AED) Pre-Health Honor Society will sponsor the Impact Life blood drive. This event will be held in the MLK Union from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
March Events
- 3/26: Impact Life - Alpha Epsilon Delta (AED) Pre-Health Honor Society will sponsor the Impact Life blood drive. (may be moved to the 25th of March) This event will be held in the MLK Union from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
- 3/29: Energize. Empower. Impact. A Mini Conference For Area School Teachers - Daryl Williams Jr and other dynamic speakers present this professional development workshop day which is hosted by The Department of Biological Sciences at 91成人视频. Grade school educators, support staff, administration, and pre-service teachers are invited to attend. The Event starts at noon. Doors open at 10:30 a.m. Tickets available starting March 1st at .
April Events
- 4/24: Guinness Book of World Records – The Department of Biological Sciences is partnering with the CLAS, 91成人视频, the City of Charleston, and area businesses to attempt to break the world record for The Longest Human Electrical Circuit. This event is the kick-off to the 2025 CLAS Spring Fest. Time and location TBA.
- 4/25: Spring Fest - Come see Budika the famous tortoise, and other live animals at the 2025 CLAS Spring Fest.
- 4/29: BSGSA Speaker Series - The Biological Sciences Graduate Student Association (BSGSA) hosts 91成人视频 and Biological Sciences alumnus Dr. Thiruni Adikari who will present her research and professional journey in a seminar. 4 p.m. in Room 2080 Life Sciences. All are welcome.
- 5/1: Biological Sciences Undergraduate Research Fair – The campus and local community are invited to attend as undergraduate students in Biological Sciences showcase their research and creative works. From 5 to 7 p.m. on the 2nd floor of the Life Sciences Building.
- 5/2: Cosmic Bowling Night – Students, faculty, emeritus faculty, and alumni are welcomed to Cosmic Bowling night at 91成人视频 Lanes, sponsored by The Department of Biological Sciences. Food provided. 7pm-9pm at 91成人视频 Lanes University Union.
- 5/2: 51st Annual Scholarship and Recognition Banquet – Current students, current and emeritus faculty, and alumni will be presented with various awards. The banquet will be held in the University Ballroom at 6:30 p.m.
- 5/3: Celebration Brunch – The Department of Biological Sciences will close out its 25th Anniversary Celebration with a Family Brunch at Sister City Park in Charleston. Students, Alumni, as well as past and present faculty, annuitants are invited to share in this final activity for 2025. A bike ride, a walk on Charleston’s newest trail with local flora and fauna shown by Barb Carlsward and Tom Hu, and other light fun are planned. Start time is 9 a.m.
