It is important that you contact the Accessibility and Accommodations as soon as possible. The office uses specific criteria for determining eligibility for accommodations. Click here to learn more about eligibility criteria.
No, when applying for accommodations for any formal testing, we do not provide services in completion of the applications. Educational Testing Service (ETS) requires a very high standard to what they approve for accommodations. A&A follows the criteria set by the Association on Higher Education and Disability (AHEAD). The criteria set by AHEAD is not the same as ETS standards. Due to our office not working directly with ETS, we are unable to assure that our accommodation recommendations meet their standards. ETS allows students to submit their applications for accommodations without approval from Accessibility and Accommodations.
Students who are registered with Accessibility and Accommodations have the right to receive their approved accommodations and services. If at any time there are concerns regarding services or accommodations, please contact Accessibility and Accommodations and ask to speak to the director. If it is felt that the director has not adequately addressed the concerns, students have the right to contact the Office of Civil Rights at 217-581-5020.
Students also have the right at any time during the process to contact the Office of Civil Rights to file a grievance.
